FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Short answers to common questions about TRIBU, drawn from across the site.

What does TRIBU do?

TRIBU provides executive search and leadership advisory, with deep expertise in CFO and finance leadership and the senior appointments around them.

Retained executive search sits at the centre. The rest is the same judgement, applied earlier or later.

Who does TRIBU work with?

TRIBU partners with investors, boards and ambitious businesses to appoint exceptional CFOs and senior finance leaders through periods of growth, investment and transformation.

We work across listed businesses, private equity portfolios, venture-backed companies and founder-led organisations, in the UK and internationally.

Where is TRIBU based?

TRIBU is UK-based, with international reach.

Which roles does TRIBU specialise in?

TRIBU's deepest experience sits across CFO and finance leadership. That expertise frequently extends into the senior appointments around them: the operational, transformation and executive roles that determine how a leadership team performs as a whole.

Who will actually run my search?

The person you meet runs the search, writes the longlist, sits in the debriefs and is there at the offer. There is no delivery team behind the curtain.

TRIBU is deliberately senior-led, and we guarantee that involvement from the first conversation through to appointment.

Who is behind TRIBU?

TRIBU is founded and led by Imraan Arbee, with Claire Toffel. Nearly twenty-five years in this market sits behind Imraan's approach; Claire's search career was built in venture capital and private equity, including ten years at Robert Half International.

Why does TRIBU take on a limited number of searches?

A high-touch model only works if we stay close to every engagement. Accordingly, we limit the number of assignments we take on so every search receives the attention, energy and involvement it deserves. Selectivity is not a limitation of the model. It is what protects it.

Will TRIBU ever turn a search down?

Yes. If the brief is wrong, or the market for it does not exist as described, we would rather say so than open a search that cannot end well. Turning one down is a normal outcome here, not a failure of nerve.

How is a search fee structured?

A retainer funds the depth of work, with the balance weighted towards a successful appointment.

What does the name TRIBU mean?

Tribu means the group you belong to. The name is the argument: search at this level is a relationship business held together by judgement, not a distribution problem solved by scale.

What is the TRIBE Network?

TRIBU works alongside a trusted network of independent search and talent businesses, each bringing complementary expertise while retaining their own specialist identity. Different specialisms, shared standards, and collaboration where it genuinely improves the outcome.

I'm a leader considering a move. Can I get in touch?

Yes. The contact form has two routes: hiring, or a leader considering a move. Email is the preferred first contact for both client and candidate enquiries.

How do I contact TRIBU, and is my enquiry confidential?

Every enquiry is read by Imraan personally and held in confidence. Write directly to imraan@tribusearch.com, call 0204 570 7128, or use the confidential form on the contact page.
